Pat Colee’s Two Cents: On the Solomon Islands, the Great Barrier Reef, and Traveling within the US

Noble House Hotels Founder and Chairman Pat Colee sets the tone for the entire company with his penchant for globetrotting. Here, he draws upon his many travels and shares a few thoughts:

Favorite Cultural Experience He’s Ever Had

“More than 20 years ago, I stayed on a friend’s boat for two weeks in the Solomon Islands. Civilization is really not there yet. The natives would stare at us as we sailed by – they’d never seen a white person before. One day, we were sitting in a bay watching Terminator on his TV. Then he taps me on the shoulder. I turn around, and there are 12 canoes of natives behind us all wide-eyed watching Terminator.”

What’s Still On His Bucket List

“Diving the Great Barrier Reef. I love diving, and I’ve been all over. But I’ve never been there.”

What He Loves About Travel

“The fact that you could spend all your life simply traveling the US in itself. I’ve been to some great places all over the world, but the travel opportunities are endless here in the US. If I could never travel internationally ever again, I think I’d be just fine.”
