The Non-Shopper’s Guide of West Palm Beach’s CityPlace

West Palm Beach’s CityPlace may be best known as an open-air shopping mecca, but it’s become an entertainment and cultural hub, too. We highlight the latest non-shopping attractions to check out.

A day with the family, a date night, or an afternoon out with friends – CityPlace in West Palm Beach, Florida can be the right setting for all of the above. Located just 15 minutes from Banyan Cay Resort & Golf, CityPlace may be best known for its brand-name stores (think Anthropologie, Natuzzi, and Victoria’s Secret), but it’s also not lacking for entertainment and cultural attractions, either. Here, we highlight some of the latest non-shopping attractions to check out when you visit.

Department Store-Turned-Culture Lab

Imagine an old Macy’s storefront – in all of its twentieth-century glory – converted into a vibrant cultural arts center and experiential creative space. That’s Culture Lab. Walking through the two-story experience, visitors will feel the stark contrast to the building’s former life. What was once dense and tightly organized is now unstructured, wide open, and filled with eclectic pieces, like “You Are the Magic,” a multi-channel sound art experience on the second floor. Those interested in a (free!) visit can check out their website or Instagram and see what’s new.

A Night of Laughs at Palm Beach Improv

Instead of just dinner and drinks, how about dinner, drinks, and a laugh? Comics you know – names like Craig Robinson, Nikki Glaser, Bob Saget, and Michelle Wolf – regularly roll through Palm Beach Improv, making the comfortable club one of southern Florida’s premiere comedy hotspots. While dinner and drinks may be an afterthought to the evening’s main event, there’s a solid mix of small bites, comfort food, and specialty drinks.

Bowling & More at Revolutions

You don’t need to like bowling to enjoy Revolutions – thought, admittedly, that’s the main draw. There are 20 boutique-style lanes (they recommend booking early) plus live entertainment, a restaurant, a video arcade, and Flair Street Bar, which spills out onto an outdoor patio if you need some air. The mood lighting would point to an adult atmosphere, but it’s a family-friendly environment – just come earlier in the evening.
